“Let me inspect your flocks today and remove all the sheep and goats that are speckled or spotted, along with all the black sheep. Give these to me as my wages.” – Genesis 30:32 NLT
God claims the imperfect for Himself. He knew we were speckled, streaked, discolored, and spotted and yet He chose us. We could not obtain salvation by ourselves. God would have to provide a perfect lamb and He did with Jesus.
Imperfect animals could not be used in sacrifices. For the law of Moses demands perfection. Yet we could never achieve it. Every human effort was imperfect and not good enough to appease the law. However, Jesus did achieve perfection. He was without sin’s spot or blemish. He was offered as the atonement for all sin. Now, through our faith in Him, we have gained salvation. Even as we live in imperfect bodies with imperfect souls we understand that our spirit has been made perfect. Jesus is our shepherd and through Him we live in holiness and right standing with God forever.
I’m so glad that God claims the imperfect for Himself!
